Kim Swee's squad responded positively from the shocking 1-0 defeat to the Philippines when they thrashed Timor Leste 4-0 in Monday's Group A match to revive their semi-final hopes.

The competing nations have been split into two groups during a group stage draw with hosts Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Timor-Leste making up Group A while Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam featuring in Group B.

However, it was Myanmar who qualified for the medal round, with Cambodia needing victory over Malaysia in their match on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila to join them. Cambodia are in second place, but are tied on four points with Philippines in third and Malaysia in fourth.

In another Group A match, Myanmar edged Cambodia 2-1 at the Binan Football Stadium to confirm their semi-final spot.

Cambodia, however, will not face any problems as most of the main venues in their country have synthetic pitches.

"We need goals, so the approach might be different".

The Azkals, however, has one of the sports' all-time greats in Ronaldo wishing them luck ahead of the match. Cambodia have done well so far in the tournament. At the same time we must be balanced with our defence so that we do not get caught in counter-attacks especially. On trying to win big, we will think about that when we are in the lead against Cambodia.

"As all matches start at 4pm tomorrow, we will monitor the other match, and from there see what we can do in terms of scoring goals".

"If we approach the match thinking only about getting a lot of goals then there will be added pressure. Our focus is on winning our match first", said the former Malaysia senior team head coach.

On the physical advantage enjoyed by Timor Leste, Kim Swee said his boys should be able to overcome their bigger opponents through fast play. They may win by two, maybe by three.

Goalkeeper Kimhuy Hul actually got a piece of the ball, but it sailed through the goalmouth and he was too late to complete the save as the ball was already inside the goal line when he tapped it out.
