Alli has scored two Premier League goals as well as assisted one across the first two league games Mourinho has been in charge of.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs striker suggested that Jose Mourinho had managed to get Alli playing so well that he is actually now his country's best midfield option.

Mourinho added on the display of his side against Bournemouth: "I think it was in our best period when we scored the third goal, we were close to score the fourth and then when they scored the first one it was a different game". He's playing really, really, really well and I could not ask any more from him. "He's playing unbelievable, scoring goals, assisting, working, fantastic".

After Mauricio Pochettino was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho, Alli's situation was one that Spurs fans were keen to see resolved. Win that and talk of a top-four finish will resume.
