Clifton, who stepped in with 45 minutes' notice in week six when Jones was injured, split with his wife Karen Hauer who also dances in Strictly before the beginning of last series and is now dating his 2018 co-star, Stacey Dooley.

After both couples had danced, the judges unanimously voted to save Michelle and made a decision to send Mike home.

At the foot of the scoreboard was Mike Bushell after his dance dis-ah-ster of a paso doble - with Geordie joker Chris Ramsey just above.

She said: 'I know you love me but I know you were disappointed, how relieved are you to be through?'

They were in the dance off against Ru Paul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage, 51, and her partner Giovanni Pernice, 29.
