Pooran, Chase shine as WI beat Afghanistan to post series win



West Indies returned to dismiss Afghanistan for 200 in 45.4 overs to complete the win.

Pooran hit seven fours and three sixes in his blistering knock that gave West Indies enough runs to record its first ODI series victory since it beat Bangladesh at home in 2014.

West Indies won its first ODI series in five years after beating Afghanistan by 47 runs in their second one-day global on Saturday. Jason Holder, Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd dismantled the Afghanistan batting line-up by scalping wickets at regular intervals.

Zadran struck seven fours and a six off 66 deliveries while Nabi gathered five fours in a brisk 38-ball outing but once the stand was broken in the 39th over, Afghanistan lost their last five wickets for 23 runs.

Chasing a target of 248, Afghanistan were all out for 200 with Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase and Hayden Walsh taking three wickets each. Afghanistan's run rate then went down to snail's pace as Chase then took three wickets to run through their middle order. His all-round display earned him the "Player of the Match" award.
