A magnitude 5.9 natural disaster struck northwestern Iran early Friday, killing at least five people and injuring 120 others, officials said.

There are not yet any reports of damages or injuries.

Almost two hours early, in neighboring Searles Valley, a 2.9 quake hit the area.

The quake had a shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), which would have amplified the shaking.

Iran is located on major seismic faults and experiences one quake a day on average.

According to the USGS, there was one report of people feeling the temblor in the Bradley area.
