Sheffield United rode a first-half goal to a 1-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Monday night to move into the top 10 in the table.

Sheffield United went ahead in the 30th minute thanks to Lys Mousset's strike - just his second since joining the Blades from Bournemouth in the summer.

"I think we deserved more".

Emery's debut season at the club saw Arsenal finish fifth, whilst they were also runners-up in the Europa League after suffering final defeat to Chelsea in May.

"We needed to produce a big performance because we're playing historically a big football club and they're expected to go really well this year, top four and higher".

Emery bemoaned referee Mike Dean's decision not to award his side an early penalty when John Egan pulled Sokratis back by his shirt as the hosts defended a corner.

But they made their own task harder for themselves by wasting possession and a golden chance which Nicolas Pepe failed to snaffle up.

Emery threw on attacking midfielder Dani Ceballos, Lacazette and Brazilian teenage forward Gabriel Martinelli in the second half, but the Gunners still couldn't create a single chance to score.

Unai Emery's side had not been beaten in any competition since their 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Aug 24, but they missed out on the chance to move up to third as the hosts earned a deserved victory. It's a big result for us.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said his side had to be close to their best to get the better of the Gunners.

It was an important step for a team who had been putting in good performances at home without the full reward. "It's what we're in the division for, days and nights like this".
