Jane Fonda Arrested (Again) With Sam Waterston in Climate Change Protest

Actress and activist Jane Fonda was arrested again for protesting climate change - this time alongside her Grace and Frankie co-star Sam Waterston.

I'd say there's a downside to retirement, but as Jane Fonda mentions, she's still a working actress.

"Make no mistake, change is coming, whether we like it or not".

"So, I moved here to do an action every Friday called "Fire Drill Friday" because Greta Thunberg says 'our house is on fire we have to behave appropriately, '" Fonda told reporters upon her release last week. She said she will continue to demonstrate regardless of how many times she is arrested.

But this time, Fonda had managed to get her hands cuffed in front of her, for balance.

A reporter asked Waterston why it made sense to get arrested as a way to draw attention to his and Fonda's cause. The actor answered: "I have to do something".

Fonda was arrested last Friday in the same protest project, and has pledged to take part in 14 Fire Drill Fridays, until she has to resume production on her Netflix series Grace and Frankie (she has relocated, temporarily, from L.A.to Washington, D.C.). "I don't know. You got a better idea?"

The Green New Deal, as proposed by freshman New York Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is a behemoth in government spending. Fonda compared the urgency of the deal with that of what happened during the Great Depression.

ABC Information posted video on Twitter displaying the 81-year-old actress and longtime activist being taken into custody Friday afternoon. A Green New Deal would make the investments in communities, public infrastructure and private industry to provide clean energy and create millions of high-wage jobs, while protecting the workers and communities affected by this economic transition. "What is radical is climate disruption", the 78-year-old actor explained at the rally.

One thing is certain, neither Waterston nor Fonda fall back until there something is being done with regard to climate change. Photos from the scene documenting the weekly youth-led rallies, known as "Fire Drill Fridays", showed Fonda, 81, with her wrists up and wrapped in zipties.
