Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi quashed speculation over his future by signing a new five-year deal with the Premier League side on Thursday.

The 18-year-old handed in a switch request in January and the Blues turned down three bids from Bayern Munich.

Chelsea might have not made any signings over the summer as a result of their transfer ban but a new contract for Callum Hudson-Odoi would definitely be leaving the Chelsea faithful like they couped a new major signing and rightly so.

The English born striker has been at the club since the age of eight.

England manager Gareth Southgate handed Hudson-Odoi his first senior global cap against Czech Republic in March.

He said: "For me it is warming, knowing that the manager and the staff around, plus the fans, everybody wants you to come back and for me I just can't wait to be back now, start playing and hopefully just show what I can do. I've been a Chelsea player since I was eight and this is the right club for me to be at".

It was only a few months ago that Hudson-Odoi was determined to leave Chelsea.

Lampard emphasised to the teenager that his vision for Chelsea involved putting faith in the club's youngsters.

But Chelsea did not let him go and in 24 appearances in the 2018/2019 season, he showed he belonged at the top level.

A transfer ban has meant Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has chose to put his faith in a host of young players at Chelsea. I wish to work with him, I wish to drive him ahead and I wish to enhance him as a participant.

Hudson-Odoi will join the likes Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori to have risen through the ranks at Chelsea to make it at the highest level of English football.

This is followed by a jump across town to west London where Chelsea host Liverpool, with kick-off at 4.30pm at Stamford Bridge.
