Given that Modi has led his government to invade Kashmir, close off communication for more than a month and deny basic human rights to the people of that region, along with continuing to antagonize Pakistan with constant assault of the LoC and antagonistic stance at the world level, it is only fair that Pakistan denies airspace for a leader who continues to violate human rights.

Mr Gokhale said the government had seen reports that pro-Pakistan elements are planning protests agai-nst Mr Modi when he visits America, and was confident the U.S. government would take necessary action.

Following the revocation of Article 370, Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Fawad Khan had earlier said that the country was considering closing its airspace for traffic from India.

However, Pakistan had allowed Modi to travel to France in August for the G7 summit.

PM Narendra Modi's visit to U.S. will begin from Houston, Texas followed by the United Nations General Assembly in NY.

Along with Modi, external affairs minister S. Jaishankar and minister of state for external affairs V. Muraleedharan will also have their separate schedules in NY.

"We are delighted that Trump will also be there", Gokhale added. Bilateral meetings with world leaders in NY will form the third part. Terrorism is one of them, but it won't be the focus.

The White House on Monday announced that Trump would join Modi at the mega Houston rally on September 22 as a "special gesture" by the US President to underscore the bond between the two countries. "India's global platform is about what role we can play and prime minister will present his vision on it". He will also attend UN Secretary General event on healthcare where PM Modi will be showing Ayushman Bharat in the event.

Trump said, "I have a very good relationship with Prime Minister Modi".

Modi will also hold two separate roundtables with business leaders in Houston and NY. He will also take part in a summit with leaders of Pacific island states and Caribbean nations. And the two cities on his itinerary are Houston in Texas and then in NY where the United Nations General Assembly are located.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla made these comments while addressing an event "India on the Hill: Charting a Future for Indo-US Relations".

It is for the first time that Trump and Modi would be sharing a stage together.
