Donald Trump has repeatedly indicated he is ready to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani

President Donald Trump said he believes that Iran's leadership wants to talk, adding to expectations that he is trying to arrange a summit with his Iranian counterpart at the upcoming United Nations assembly.

However, some analysts see hope for more compromise following this week's exit of Trump's hardline national security adviser John Bolton, who in the past has called for the use of military force and regime change.

But Trump said on Thursday that both he and Pompeo like having a third person involved in national security discussions.

"There's no question it's working", added Mnuchin, whose department plays a key role in carrying out USA policy toward Iran through the imposition of economic sanctions.

On Tuesday, Trump fired Bolton, stressing, however, that the two had a number of "strong" disagreements, including on Venezuela and North Korea.

The 70-year-old also strongly supported the USA withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Tehran and the termination of non-proliferation agreements with Russian Federation.

Rouhani said in response that Iran was ready to comply with the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, only if the Americans did so too.

"We can not let Iran have a nuclear weapon and, they never will have a nuclear weapon", he said.

Sanctions against Iran have been effective and could help pressure Iran and its leaders to negotiate with Trump, Mnuchin added. Apart from the nuclear deal, Tehran and Washington clashed after several tankers in the Persian Gulf were attacked and the USA accused Iran of the actions.

Former US National Security advisor was sacked after he persistently ignored meetings with the President following his own agenda. "However, we are not giving up and we will continue the particular work", Ryabkov stressed.

Following Trump's announcement that he was sacked, Bolton insisted in a message to Fox News that he had resigned as national security advisor.

Trump has reimposed sanctions that had been lifted under the 2015 accord and has introduced other measures including threats of sanctions against any country importing oil from Iran, which has led to a sharp drop in Iranian oil exports.
