Pittsburgh Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez has been arrested Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh on charges of child pornography and soliciting a child, according to reports. The two continued a relationship over text messages, and she received a video in July from Vazquez "in which he is shown performing a sex act".

"Vázquez, 28, of Saint Cloud, Florida, is facing charges of computer pornography - solicitation of a child and one count of providing obscene material to minors".

FDLE says several electronic devices were seized in Pittsburgh and will be examined as part of this investigation.

Vazquez has appeared in 56 games out of the bullpen this year, pitching to the tune of a 1.65 ERA while allowing 43 hits and striking out 90 batters over 60 innings of work with 28 saves. Additional charges may still come. We have informed the Commissioner's Office of the investigation and arrest.

Vazquez has been placed on administrative leave.

He is being held at the Allegheny County Jail in after being busted on a felony warrant out of Lee County, Fla., and is awaiting extradition to the Sunshine State, according to WTAE-TV. "As a result, the organization, our staff and players can not comment any further at this time".

Vazquez has been the Pirates' most reliable pitcher over the past three seasons since he was acquired during the 2016 season in a trade with the Washington Nationals.

On Sept. 10, Vazquez was involved in a clubhouse altercation with teammate Kyle Crick.

Last year, Vazquez legally changed his name from Felipe Rivero. He signed a 4-year, $22.5 million contract in 2018.
