Defying the statements of his top officials, US President Donald Trump on Sunday stated that the reports of him being ready to talk to Iran without conditions are "incorrect".

Iran said on Monday there would be no meeting between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his USA counterpart Donald Trump at the United Nations, Iranian state television reported, after the White House on Sunday left open the possibility of a potential meeting. "Such a meeting will not take place", Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in remarks carried by state TV.

Meanwhile, in response to the weekend's Houthi attack on Saudi Arabian oil and gas facilities, Trump noted: "Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. I am fully confident that if Donald Trump wins a second term, European Union will leave the nuclear deal", he said.

Trump on Sunday denied that he was willing to meet with Iranian leaders with "no conditions", blaming the "fake news" media for spreading the idea.

Arch-foes Tehran and Washington have been at loggerheads since May past year when Trump withdrew from a 2015 nuclear deal and began reimposing punitive measures.
