The moon being close to the horizon means that it's passing through more atmosphere, which tends to make it appear bigger and at times have a glow to it. While those living in the Pacific, Central and Mountain time zones will be able to witness it before midnight i.e on Friday the 13th - September 13.

This time around, Friday's moon will be 806 miles farther than that!

NASA says that the moon will appear full for about three days centered around this time - from Thursday night through Sunday morning.
