With the 2019 Tokyo Game Show now underway, even more information has emerged and we've gotten a first look at the 4v1 gameplay.

When it was teased earlier this week, Capcom described its forthcoming Resident Evil spin-off, Project Resistance, as a "team-based survival horror".

The survivors, then, have to survive the Mastermind's traps while completing objectives and solving some light puzzles to progress.

Capcom has developed the new RE game in partnership with NeoBards Entertainment, who worked on the recent Onimusha Warlords re-release. Anyone who wants to take part can sign up on the official Project Resistance page. While four players will assume the role of hapless survivors, one Mastermind will be tasked with using security cameras in order to track his prey and lay traps. The Mastermind plots a deadly course by wielding a strategic deck of cards to create unsafe obstacles for the Survivors, such as summoning vicious creatures, setting traps, manipulating the environment, and weaponizing security cameras.

No word yet on exactly when Project Resistance will launch, but between the closed beta and likely further details at TGS, we'll learn much more soon. Mastermind can even take control of certain zombies directly, with his coup de grace being the ability to remote control the infamous Mister X and give it to ya directly.

In each match the Survivors work together to try and escape an insidious experiment that the Mastermind has set up.

Each Survivor will have their own unique skill to help their team get the best of the Mastermind and escape from the twisted experiment. More details on Project Resistance and the closed beta will be revealed at a later date. However, it will hit Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC sometime in 2020.
