Wendy's is jumping all the way onto the breakfast bandwagon. The menu features signature items including the Breakfast Baconator®, Frosty-ccino, and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. Wendy's has about 5,800 USA locations but now serves breakfast only in more than 300 of them.

To support the move to breakfast, Wendy's said the company and its local franchisees plan to hire around 20,000 new crew members across the country.

The nationwide launch calls for an investment of about $20 million, according to the release.

The fast-food chain plans to launch breakfast nationwide in 2020. It's a buttermilk biscuit sandwich with crispy (read: fried) white meat chicken breast and whipped honey butter.

Wendy's has experimented with breakfast options in the past, but it had not resonated with customers enough to stay on the menu permanently. "We believe we have the right team and structure in place, and we put Wendy's fan favorites on our breakfast menu to set us apart from the competition".

Breakfast items are available at about 300 locations throughout the United States now, according to the release. The company now expects adjusted earnings per share to decline 3.5 percent to 6.5 percent this year, after targeting an increase of about 3.5 percent to 7 percent as recently as last month. A spokesperson told CNN Business that Wendy's plans to offer more than that, including seasoned potatoes and croissant sandwiches.

Wendy's has tried and failed multiple times to add a breakfast daypart-beginning as far back as the 1980s-much as both McDonald's and Burger King have done, along with other chains such as Taco Bell.

The move is likely created to capture a piece of the growing breakfast market and compete against rivals McDonald's and Burger King as well as outlets like Starbucks and Dunkin'.
