Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has taken the blame for Wilfried Ndidi's mistake in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

Ndidi, whose mistake led to the Blues' goal, redeemed himself in the 66th minute, heading home James Maddison's cross to draw his side level.

The Chelsea youth academy graduate chased down Ndidi, after the ball was rolled out to him by Kasper Schmeichel, won the ball and slotted it into the net to give Frank Lampard's side the ideal start after seven minutes.

It would have been hard for Leicester to be as ineffective after the break as it was in the first half and the visitors began to ask questions of Chelsea's defense, with Maddison coming to the fore. "I am doing the course at the moment and now I want to be great as a coach", he said.

Lampard said: "The first patch was how we wanted to play - and we still had chances after Mason's goal - but the rest of the game wasn't how we wanted to play".

"I don't expect that 100-miles-an-hour energy for the 90 minutes, but I do expect that when you rest, you can keep possession of the ball better".

"For me it is a huge thing, but my focus today was on the match and trying to win".

The bright start, coupled with an impressive 120-minute performance against Liverpool in midweek, restored the feel-good factor around Stamford Bridge after the shellacking by Manchester United last weekend.

Mount nearly grabbed his brace in the 20th minute after Cesar Azpilicueta delivered a good cross from the right channel, but his header was smothered by Schmeichel, before Kante was denied by a superb block by Fuchs in the six-yard box.
