A while ago WayForward announced that Shantae 5 is in the works, and even dropped a handsome trailer for it. The date of publication of the new action-adventure platformer has not yet been confirmed, but Shantae and the Seven Sirens will debut on the gaming market in 2020. According to the reports in this new game Shantae and her friends will be sent to a tropical island, where they'll meet several other half-genies. Officially Shantae 5 is now renamed Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

Developer Wayforward has granted its fifth Shantae game a true name, and thy name is Shantae and the Seven Sirens. And, as seen in the first screenshots below, we have new aquatic forms for Shantae (with a new instant-transformation Fusion Magic feature in tow) and even more big bosses that you'll have to battle. WayForwward has been relatively silent about this inclusion, but have said it "grants players the freedom to augment Shantae's powers to suit their own style of play".

In support of the announcement, the team also shared some initial details on the project, confirming that the game will offer a non-linear and interconnected game world, with numerous cities and dungeons.

Minigames, [acquiring] magic and items, and [uncovering] secrets! Shantae and the Seven Sirens is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade at an as yet undisclosed time.
