Instead, the man purportedly demanded his parents gift him a Jaguar and evidently, the German alternative was not to his liking.

A young driver from India allegedly pushed the BMW he got from his parents into a river. It is unclear if they managed to get the BMW out of the water.

A BMW was retrieved from a river in the district of Yamunanagar, with a team of local police using ropes and a rubber boat to reach the partially submerged vehicle.

He enlisted the help of some local divers who worked to pull the auto back to dry land.

The vehicle was eventually removed from the river and police will now investigate.

"Akash was unhappy with his father for not buying him (a) Jaguar", police said in a statement.

Officials say no charges have been filed against the ungrateful man with claims that he has a mental deficiency and is undergoing treatment.

BMW cars cost around 3.5 million rupees ($65,000) locally in India, while Jaguars cost about 4 million to 5 million rupees ($92,000). "His family had sold the [Toyota] Innova they had received from his in-laws to buy him the BMW", he said.

"Akashi was demanding for a Jaguar vehicle from his father, but when his father failed to buy one, he threw away his BMW in a fit of anger", a local police official said.

"We could only afford to give him a BMW, while he kept on insisting that he be given a Jaguar", he said.

"We never imagined he would do anything like this".
