Giants Golden Tate loses appeal of suspension for PEDs

He will miss the opener on the road against the Dallas Cowboys followed by games against the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins.

Tate released a statement on Twitter when he was first suspended, attributing the failed test to a treatment prescribed during the offseason for fertility planning.

"Tate states just days later he noticed the prescription "contained an ingredient" on the banned substance list, so he discontinued using it and informed an independent administrator, his coaches, and GM Dave Gettleman". Additionally, it has meant so much to hear the Giants fan's support each day at training camp and I am so proud to be a part of this organization.

Tate can continue to play in preseason games and practice with the team until the regular season begins. He will be placed on the suspended list rather than the 53-man roster, meaning he can not participate in team activities.

The Giants bolstered their wide receiver corps this offseason by signing Golden Tate, but it appears NY will begin the year without the 31-year-old pass-catcher.
