The internet spoke and MTV listened.

Missy Elliott is set to receive MTV's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2019 MTV VMAs later this month!

Now, Elliott's iconic work in music videos will be rewarded with one of the VMAs' biggest honors, and she'll celebrate by performing at the show for the first time since 2006. The deserving rapper, singer/songwriter and producer took to social media to celebrate shortly after the news was announced.

The 48-year-old is having a pretty stellar year, to say the least.

"Missy's impact on the music landscape is indelible", Bruce Gillmer, Viacom's head of music and music talent said in a statement.

Past recipients of the award include Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Kanye West, and Madonna.

'Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched'.

The five-time Grammy victor is also the only female rapper to have six studio albums go certified platinum, with hit singles like "Work It", "Get Your Freak On", and "Lose Control", all accompanied by some of the most memorable music videos of the last few decades.

The VMAs will air on MTV at 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, and will be hosted by comedian, actor and author Sebastian Maniscalco, live from Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Elliott, who also became the first female hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year, started her career as a solo artist in 1997 with her debut album "Supa Dupa Fly" and the standout song "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)".
