As Taylor Swift took the stage for the Teen Choice awards in a stylish Versace ensemble the crowd went wild.

Swift also told fans to "stand up for yourself", days after Kid Rock was widely condemned for a "sexist tweet" claiming the pop star was only supporting left-leaning causes to further her career in Hollywood. "The fact that she's here presenting this to me is such an honor", the 29-year-old singer said. The rumoured couple were not at the ceremony but Mendes thanked fans by video.

Swift was presented with the Icon Award in the traditional surfboard shape synonymous with the award show. Please, please, please support her and her teammates because this is not over yet. It's happening everywhere and they are heroes and icons for standing up'.

"Aesthetically speaking this may be my favourite award", she told the crowd.

"I think one thing I wish I would have known when I was a teen are mistakes are inevitable". "You make me laugh every day online, I love meeting you".

In true Taylor fashion, she dropped a massive announcement at the end of her acceptance speech - the title track of her much-awaited seventh album Lover is dropping this Friday! It's normal to make mistakes and I just want to let you know that if you're out there being really hard on yourself right now for something that's happened or messing up or feeling embarrassed.it's normal. That's what going to happen to you in life.

He new album, also called "Lover", is set to drop August 23. They split in 2013 but got back together in March with the number one single Sucker.
