Event Horizon series being developed by Amazon

Event Horizon

Event Horizon

According to Variety, Amazon and Paramount Television are now developing a series adaptation of Paul W.S. Anderson's cruelly underrated 1997 sci-fi horror film.

Synopsis:When the Event Horizon, a spacecraft that vanished years earlier, suddenly reappears, a team is dispatched to investigate the ship.

Event Horizon may plumb the depths of space again.

Adam Wingard is set to executive produce and direct the Event Horizon series.

Though no details are now available, it has been reported that Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong, Blair Witch, You're Next) will be leading the charge. His credits also include Blair Witch, Death Note, The Guest, and You're Next.

Originally directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, the man responsible for bringing us the first live-action Mortal Kombat movie, Event Horizon featured Sam Neill and Laurence Fishburn on an ill-fated space mission that, eventually, culminated in them piercing the cosmic barriers between our reality and a horrifying hell-dimension, all while trying to run a rescue mission on a derelict space ship. In sum, Alien meets Hellraiser meets Interstellar. In related news, Amazon recently announced it was developing another title from 1997 into series, aka I Know What You Did Last Summer, making their recent acquisitions rather intriguing for horror hounds out there.
