Brad Parscale, President Donald Trump's re-election campaign manager, tweeted on Thursday evening, "Making Straws Great Again", along with a link to buy Trump-branded straws from the Trump campaign store.

The cost of 10 straws: $15.

Not everyone on Twitter was thrilled with the idea of putting a nine-inch Trump tube in their mouths.

'You know, it's interesting about plastic straws: So you have a little straw, but what about the plates, the wrappers and everything else that are much bigger, and they're made of the same material?

'Liberal paper straws don't work, ' claims the ad.

The pitch trolls the growing nationwide effort to ban the use of single use plastic straws and replace them with paper ones - sometimes inviting pushback both from some libertarians and conservatives as well as lemonade sippers and cocktail connoisseurs who complain paper straws don't hold up.

Trump's campaign is also correct in pointing out that "liberal paper straws" are a poor substitute given their propensity to dissolve in drinks or crumple when being poked through lids.

The straws say "TRUMP" on one end.

BPA, short for Bisphenol A, is a chemical often found in plastics.

Several businesses had already moved over to biodegradable straws long before the legislation was introduced. "I think people are more aware of what we're trying to do or what everyone's trying to do with being more environmentally conscious".

Earlier this year, McDonald's was met with backlash after they announced they would be switching from plastic to paper straws in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The plastic straw is a helpful and cheap drinking utensil that has been unfairly maligned as an environmental menace. "Single-use "throw away" plastic items like straws, cups and bottles have a huge impact on our environment, they clog up our oceans and [are] polluting our countryside. If you disagree with this petition and you'd like to sign the petition calling for an end to plastic straws you can do so here".
