OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 6, and 6T get third Android Q Developer Preview - news

Considering the advancements of OxygenOS team in the tenth Android version, we expect to see a stable Android Q-based OxygenOS before the end of 2019. The older update has been halted and a hotfix build OxygenOS 9.5.10 is being rolled out partially for the OnePlus 7 smartphone.

The update is available for download from OnePlus' website and you need to manually flash your device with the ROM, keeping in mind the risks of doing so if it's your fist time doing so. Most of the updates are centered around system-level improvements but there is also fix for camera performance. The changelog reveals that OnePlus has also optimized the sensitivity of automatic brightness. The haptic feedback of third-party app notifications have also been optimized with this update.

OnePlus 7 Pro's latest OxygenOS 9.5.9 update was halted after a bug was found in the tap-to-wake feature. The feature can be enabled from Settings Security & Lock Screen Face Unlock Face Unlock Assistive Lighting.

The OnePlus 7 Pro update also brings a new Face Unlock assistive lighting option, option to enhance the sound of the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2, June Android security patch, VoLTE/ VoWiFi support for 3SE and Telenor SE operators, and general bug fixes and improvements.

Regarding the update process itself, those who are already on a developer preview will have to back their data up as on-loading Developer Preview 3 will require a wipe - in the case of the OnePlus 6 series, this specifically affects Developer Preview 2 participants. In Pro mode, OxygenOS 9.5.10 brings improvements to photo quality of 48-megapixel JPEG images.

Now coming on to the camera, the new software update has improved the performance of camera mode while switching from front to back, the speed of autofocus has also been improved.
