Google Stadia Will Not Have Achievements at Launch

"A$3 s a a lifelong gamer and a pathological overachiever, I love achievements!" But what matters about Stadia, what makes it revolutionary (if the promises made hold true) is that by playing your game via a really really long cord (the internet) you can actually swap devices and pick up right where you left off as if you just paused the game, unplugged your console, replugged it back in on a different TV, PC, or smart phone, and suddenly (instantaneously) you're back in the same game as if you just hit pause.

Google Stadia launches this fall but there are still a lot of uncertainties. It seems like a bit of an oversight, though. See our disclosure policy for more details. Any games you purchase, however, are yours via Stadia regardless of whether you have a subscription or not.

That same sentiment carried over to another question, where Doronichev was asked which announced features would available at launch. As the months go on, you'll be able to add more free games to your Stadia Pro account as long as you remain a subscriber.

To be clear, Stadia Pro is not "Netflix for Games" like some people have mentioned, a closer comparison would be like Xbox Live Gold or Playstation Plus. The Pro subscribers get 4K/HDR streaming, 5.1 sound, exclusive discounts and access to some free games. Starting with Destiny 2 (yay!). "But what we can do is to launch the service and continue investing in it for years to come". But hey, Stadia Base gives you free access to the state-of-the-art gaming hardware in our datacenter You spend your money to buy games you want. Of course it's not going to be every feature we announced at our vision announcement at day 1. But that's the beauty of a cloud platform - it'll be constantly improving! We've known that for quite some time, of course, but it's an example of how mixed messaging across its reveal presentation and first Connect livestream has muddied the water a little.
