The match looked to be heading for a draw but the young forward Tyreece John-Jules worked his way down the left side of the Bayern penalty box to cut the ball back for Nketiah to tap home two minutes from time.

The game ended in a 2-1 win to Arsenal after an own goal from Bayern Munich's Louis Poznanski and a classy finish from Eddie Nketiah late in the game.

The young striker was on the cusp of Unai Emery's thinking last season and was only used sparingly, making just five appearances in the Premier League.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are the club's leading strikers, but the Arsenal supporters believe Nketiah has shown enough quality to be the next man in line.

After the team was announced, Arsenal fans reacted took to Twitter to ask why Nelson hadn't been included. We definitely want to see much more of him this coming season. He can more than handle it'.

Unai Emery's side came through their second fixture in America in good form, despite the saga surrounding unsettled captain Laurent Koscielny who chose to boycott their U.S. tour to try to force a transfer.

Lewandowski added: "To play at that top level, you need certain qualities and a strong team to be competitive". He has the talent.

"Everyone knows it's not good that we have so few players in the team at the moment".
