Man charged with sexual assault after posing as ridesharing driver: Toronto police

Police have arrested a 33-year old man who is alleged to have picked up a woman while posing as her ride share driver, only to take her to a secluded area and sexually assault her.

Waterbury, 24, of Keene, N.H., is facing four counts of felonious sexual assault and two counts of prohibited sales of alcohol, according to Keene police.

A spokeswoman for Crestwood says that resident safety is a top priority and that it reported the assault immediately to police.

"This man approached her and said he was her driver".

Police confirmed the man operating the vehicle she entered was an employee with both Uber and Lyft and said both ride share companies are cooperating with the investigation.

Besaw was identified as a suspect after an "extensive investigation" by Webster Police with support from the Connecticut State Police, which included surveillance video from numerous residences and businesses in Connecticut and MA, federal authorities said.

On Monday, Suhail Siddiqi, 33, of Ajax was arrested.

Police say that their investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on Tuesday morning.
