Haller, who joined the Frankfurt from Dutch club Utrecht and was a France Under-21 worldwide, is 6ft 3in and is regarded as a traditional number nine, helping his team reach the Europa League semi-finals where they were knocked out by Chelsea.

The German club say the 25-year-old former France Under-21 worldwide has been given clearance to have a medical in London.

For quite some time West Ham have issues with signing strikers with their transfers rarely paying off and struggling to score in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old signed a new contract with the Hammers in March - one that will run until at least the summer of 2022.

West Ham have been linked with Gonzalo Higuain and Diego Costa this summer transfer window as they seek reinforcements up front.

Arnautovic was sold to Shanghai SIPG for £22.4m, after the striker submitted a transfer request.

"But there is concern at West Ham at late interest in the striker from elsewhere".

The east London side have since turned their attention to Haller, who scored 20 times for Eintracht Frankfurt last season.

Haller was signed by Eintract Frankfurt two years ago for £6m from Utrecht.

Brazil worldwide Felipe Anderson took no time at all to settle into life in east London, and he ended the campaign as West Ham's most exciting player after being directly involved in 15 goals across all competitions. However, Haller, with good feet and excellent awareness, could also be the key to unlocking defences for West Ham next season.

The German club have confirmed that the Frenchman has travelled to London to complete a medical.
