Crawford has 2 HRs, 8 RBIs as Giants overwhelm Rockies

The two-homer game was the fourth of his career and increased his season total to eight.

A pair of struggling pitchers meet Tuesday night in a venue unlikely to help them end their woes as Drew Pomeranz leads the San Francisco Giants into the third game of their four-game set versus Colorado Rockies rookie Paul Lambert.

The San Francisco Giants look to stay hot as they try to inch closer to the rest of the National League West when they take on the Colorado Rockies in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday. He walked one and struck out nine. Reynolds allowed two runs and two hits. It marked only the fourth time in the Rockies' history that they had lost by at least 17 runs, and the first since losing by 17 to Florida on September 17, 1995.

His only loss in his past four starts came against the Rockies on June 26, when he gave up five runs and three hits in five innings of a 6-3 loss in San Francisco.

Samardzija retired the first six batters he faced and finished with nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Giants odds show Colorado at -154 on the money line (risk $154 to win $100), while the over-under for total runs scored is 9.5.

German Marquez (8-5), who won both of his previous starts against the Giants in San Francisco this season, allowed a career-high 11 runs on 11 hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Crawford added an RBI single in the fourth, a two-run drive off Jesus Tinoco in the sixth and a two-run single in the ninth off Reynolds. Tinoco was optioned to Triple A Albuquerque after the game to make roster room for Gonzalez.

Others in the San Francisco era with eight RBIs in a game are Willie Mays on April 30, 1961, and Orlando Cepeda on July 4, 1961.

Marquez (8-4, 4.45 ERA) was matched against Samardzija on June 26 and earned the win after allowing three runs (two earned) and seven hits over five innings.

Giants Injuries: Nick Vincent: 60-day IL (pectoral), Johnny Cueto: 60-day IL (elbow), Travis Bergen: 10-day IL (shoulder), Austin Slater: day-to-day (illness), Alex Dickerson: day-to-day (back tightness), Evan Longoria: day-to-day (left foot discomfort).

Right-handers Dereck Rodriguez (3-5, 5.27) of the Giants and Chi Chi Gonzalez (0-1, 6.00) of the Rockies were scheduled to pitch the nightcap.

The Rockies won their rubber game against the Reds on Sunday, taking advantage of a six-run fifth inning in the 10-9 win.
