"I think for him, it was just a new chapter". "So, just to watch him play was a treat for me, just to watch him practice, just to watch him work out", Myers said.

"Three years ago, we were thrilled with the arrival of Kevin Durant", Lacob said in a statement. In my opinion he was everything we could have asked for.

"He still has a great relationship with a lot of his teammates, our staff, myself".

"It wasn't quick. I hadn't seen him since he'd been hurt, it was more to see how he's been doing as a human being", Myers said. "I'm not gonna share all of the details, but I talked to him until I probably wasn't allowed to talk to him a few days later".

Myers sat down with Durant for a lengthy conversation - chatting for an hour or two about life and other matters - in NY ahead of Durant's Instagram announcement on June 30 (July 1, PHL time) that he would sign with the Nets on a max contract. He could end up missing the entire first season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles suffered during June's NBA Finals.

"It wasn't like slamming the door", Myers said. "But I wasn't aware of any finality until I saw him and talked to him".

"The other thing is, I love basketball". "Growing up here, the fact that Kevin Durant wore a Warriors uniform for three years, to me, that's pretty cool, whether I'm here in the position I'm in, or just a Warriors fan".

There is speculation Russell will hit the trading block once Thompson is back in good shape, but Myers insists Golden State are focusing on the present.

Now, Myers and his Warriors roster enter a new season with a new look, absent of 2015 Finals MVP Andre Igoudala and key role player Shaun Livingston.

Nearly immediately after reports surfaced that the Warriors would acquire D'Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade with the Nets, people began predicting that the Dubs would eventually trade the All-Star guard elsewhere.

Myers has heard the chatter and he said it is false. Once Klay Thompson returns to the team, the fit becomes more awkward.

"It's a new dawn for us, but it's OK".
