Morris evidently had a change of heart when the New York Knicks made him an offer of a $15-million, one-year contract after an unexpected re-negotiation with recent Knicks veteran signee Reggie Bullock, who was determined to have a significant risk of missing most of next season. It was initially believed that the 29-year-old was headed to the San Antonio Spurs. "I have respect for them", Morris said.

Lyles averaged 8.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 64 games (two starts) for the Nuggets last season. He shot just 41.8/25.5/69.8 percent last season, well below the numbers Morris put up in Boston.

San Antonio reportedly signed Lyles to a two-year contract.

Speaking of Morris' twin, earlier this summer Markieff Morris agreed to a free agent deal with the Detroit Pistons, his fourth team in nine years. "This is no knock on the Spurs". However, an issue that arose during his physical exam reportedly caused both sides to reconsider, although Bullock may still join NY at a lower figure.

Beyond that, Morris also is putting himself at risk for future negotiations once he becomes a free agent again, which could be as soon as 2020 if he joins the Knicks.

Agent David Bauman and the Knicks are reevaluating Bullock's fitness to play a full season in 2019-20. "Our plan was to organically build this team through teamwork, drafting well, getting high-character guys that want to compete".

While all the buzz had been about the Thunder trying to trade Westbrook to Miami - a place Westbrook was interested in - that was a complicated trade because Oklahoma City wanted to dump extra salary and Miami was up against the hard cap. He was selected No. 12 overall by the Jazz in the 2015 NBA Draft.
