By exercising its break clause, the BRDC brought F1's new owners, Liberty Media, to the negotiating table and after two years of talks the new five-year deal was announced at Silverstone on Wednesday.

But the race at the Northamptonshire circuit will begin at 2:10pm - just after the start of the men's singles final at Wimbledon and midway through the final at Lord's, where England may be attempting to win a first ever Cricket World Cup.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner raised eyebrows when he said he would "absolutely back" Verstappen were the Dutchman to race Hamilton in the same machinery, something the Briton was unwilling to discuss.

Having led for much of the race, Leclerc missed out on victory in Spielberg after a charging Verstappen completed a last-gasp pass on the Ferrari driver at Turn 3 on the penultimate lap.
