The county's department of health services indicated it was monitoring the case and working closely with the national government to ensure all essential procedures are followed to keep the public safe.

Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki said on Monday that tests had been conducted on the suspected victim and the results diffused fears of her having Ebola.

So far Ebola screening centers have been established in Lasu (South Sudan-Congo border) and Kaya (South Sudan-Uganda border), leaving about 15 entry points without screening facilities.

As of yesterday, a total of 135,395 people in the DRC and neighboring countries had been vaccinated with Merck's vaccine.

As of June 11, there were 2,084 Ebola cases including 1,990 confirmed and 94 probable cases in DRC Congo, according to the World Health Organisation.

She however confirmed that health authorities were taking extra measures to ensure the said lady received treatment for her condition.

"We've been able to mobilize 18.4 million USA dollars, train health workers in the high-risk districts, beef up logistics, erect isolation facilities and most importantly convene the Ebola Accountability Forum - a forum that enabled all partners to share their work", Aceng said.

NCDC also said there are now ongoing Infection Prevention Control (IPC) programs nationwide, including the development of new guidelines, as well as training packages for health care workers to mitigate transmission.
