James's transfer to Manchester United completes remarkable rise

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd agreed deals worth £35million (fee plus personal terms) to secure the capture of the 21-year-old winger from Swansea City.

De Gea reportedly earns £240,000 a week, half what teammate Alexis Sanchez is reported to earn.

The Wales worldwide finally signed for the Red Devils on Wednesday after weeks of speculation linking him with a transfer to the Old Trafford club.

The move was delayed as James had to link-up with the Wales squad ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary but with those games now out of the way, the youngster has been able to finalise his switch to Old Trafford.

James is United's first signing of the current transfer window, but the Red Devils remain linked with a host of names.

James said: "This is one of the best days of my life and a challenge I am really looking forward to".

'Daniel is an exciting young winger with lots of skills, vision, exceptional pace and a good work ethic, ' said the United boss.

'We are delighted he has signed with our club and we are all looking forward to working with him.

After an impressive comeback at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League, his appointment was made permanent but since then United's form has dipped drastically and they slumped to an underwhelming sixth place finish last season following some pretty uninspiring performances; condemning themselves to a place in the Europa League for the 2019/20 season.

"This is an incredibly proud moment for me and my family. This is the ideal environment for Daniel to continue his development".

He made a total of 38 appearances for Swansea across all competitions in the 2018/2019 season, notching five goals and making 10 assists.

James told manutd.com: "Last season I didn't think I was going to get much first-team football".
