Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Club Brugge for the signature of Newcastle United target Wesley this summer.

Moraes does not automatically qualify for a work permit but Villa are confident of obtaining one due to the size of the fee and the fact he has appeared in the Champions League in each of the last two seasons for Brugge.

HLN explain that playing in the Premier League has been a dream for Wesley, who "didn't even consider" Bayer Leverkusen's interest, wanting to move to England above all else.

He notched up 17 goals across all competitions last campaign, in arguably his best campaign since joining from Slovakian outfit Trencin, helping Brugge to a second-place finish in the Belgian top-flight and a place in the qualifying rounds of the 2019-20 Champions League.

They have also agreed a contract with the striker and he will sign a five-year contract with Aston Villa after he completes a medical with the club.

The deal is not only the highest transfer fee Aston Villa have ever forked out, but it also matches the previous record for a player from the Jupiler Pro League - matching the fee Monaco paid to snap up Youri Tielmans in 2017.
