Real Madrid have taken their summer spending close to the £300 million mark after announcing their fifth signing of the transfer window so far: Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy.

"Mendy will be presented next Wednesday, June 19, at 1:00 p.m., in the VIP box at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium".

In March, they signed FC Porto defender Eder Militao for €50m and compatriot Rodrygo Goes will officially arrive at the end of the current month from Brazilian Serie A side Santos in a deal worth €45m.

"The player has signed a contract with the club for the next six seasons, running to the 30th of June 2025".

Mendy, who last Saturday turned 24, is a full worldwide with France and joined Lyon in 2017 from Le Havre.

"There are a lot of players returning from loans and others who were in the team last season that will obviously be leaving Real Madrid".

The 24-year-old played in France's two European Qualifiers in the last week and started the 4-0 victory in Andorra on Tuesday night.
