The new Echo Dots Kids edition is available for $69.99, but Amazon is offering a 20% discount and you can get it for only $49.99 if you pre-order.

However, with the ability to now call external phone numbers, we can see more people calling upon Alexa to dial friends and family without having to lift a finger.

Amazon believes that adults shouldn't be the only ones to have voice command and smart speaker fun.

Amazon updated its Echo Dot speaker back in 2018, so it's no surprise that the tech company made a decision to revamp its original Echo Dot Kids Edition with a next-gen device as well.

Update: Pre-orders start today and will ship on June 26th.

Along with the new hardware, Amazon is also introducing two new FreeTime features. You can grab the bundle from the link below, but if you don't want a smart plug, the Echo by itself is now $64.99 ($35 off).

If your kid isn't into subscription boxes, Amazon's Kids Edition devices are a great way to join learning and playtime. Details surrounding what's new are a bit limited right now, but Amazon does say that this speaker, like the latest Echo Dot, is 70% louder, and there are a few additions to Amazon's FreeTime app for this model as well.

Amazon has also announced new Alexa Skill Blueprints for Echo Dot Kids Edition devices (and other Echos that are FreeTime-enabled) specifically for children's skills. Parents will also be able to set limits, review activity on the device, set age limits, and filter out specific content to keep their kids safe.

Both new Kids Edition items come with Amazon's worry-free guarantee, which ensures that they'll buy you a new device if yours breaks - no questions asked.
