Chicago fire officials confirmed firefighters responded to an address for a baby in distress, the baby was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

Ochoa-Lopez's family had been looking for her since she disappeared, organizing search parties and holding news conferences as they pushed police for updates in the investigation.

"I'm just thinking in my own mind, if I see somebody coming in with a baby, with an umbilical and placenta, why does the mother look like she is in good health, that has no blood, normal clothes".

On Monday, Ochoa-Lopez's family also met with staff at the hospital asking about the baby's medical care and questioning whether the facility acted properly in the case.

But on May 20 he was reported to have opened his eyes for the first time. "That doesn't make logical sense to me", family attorney Frank Avila was quoted by ABC6 as saying.

"We've been blessed, although this is a really bad tragedy".

A hospital spokesperson would not comment about today's meeting but did send a statement. Our top priority is to provide the safest and highest quality care for the patients and communities we serve. According to Mount Auburn Funeral Home in the Chicago suburb of Stickney, Marlen Ochoa-Lopez will have a two-day visitation on Thursday and Friday, followed by a funeral and burial service on Saturday.

Clarisa and Desiree Figueroa were charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery of a child less than 13 years old.

Authorities continue to investigate the brutal murder of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, whose unborn baby was cut from her womb. A third person, Desiree's boyfriend Piotr Bobak, 40, also is charged with one felony count of concealment of a homicide.

Authorities allege that after recently losing her adult son to natural causes, Clarisa Figueroa was eager to raise another child, despite having had her fallopian tubes tied.

Christ Hospital is not commenting on their actions surrounding baby Yovani, citing privacy laws.

A woman plotted for months to acquire a newborn before she and her daughter strangled Ochoa-Lopez and used a butcher's knife to remove the infant, prosecutors said.

"Those conversations of whether he can be taken off of life support will be had with [husband] Yovany and the family in the future, but right now they're just being introduced to their baby", she says.
