Nick Kyrgios defaulted from Italian Open after huge outburst

Novak Djokovic will

Novak Djokovic will"never be the greatest for Kyrgios

Kyrgios devoted special attention to Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco, calling him "the most arrogant person ever".

This latest incident comes just two days after Kyrgios used some unorthodox techniques in his win against Daniil Medvedev in the opening round, employing an array of drop-shots, lobs and even an audacious between-the-legs shot. Why are you walking across court as I am serving?

Speaking to tennis writer Ben Rothenberg on the "No Challenges Remaining" podcast, the 24-year-old also disparaged a number of other top professionals and fans who heckle him at his matches. This whole (post-match) celebration thing is so cringeworthy, ' was one of the choicer comments.

"[But] we're talking about a guy who pulled out of the Australian Open one year because it was too hot".

In the 50-minute interview, Kyrgios, who past year said he was talking to psychologists to address mental health issues, was asked about his opinion on a number of tennis stars. He probably will, honestly, I reckon he will get the grand slam count, I reckon he will overpass Federer. I feel he wants to be liked so much that I just can't stand him. "You guys treat me like crap anyway".

"For me, Federer will always be the greatest of all time, hands down".

"Djokovic just rubs me the wrong way, always says what feels like he needs to say, never speaks his opinion".

"Simply because, I've played him twice and like, I'm sorry, but if you can't beat me, you're not the greatest of all time. That would be hilarious, right?"

Nadal claimed Kyrgios lacked respect after losing to him in Acapulco in February, with the Australian attempting an underarm serve on his way to victory.

"He's just my polar opposite, like literally my polar opposite". And he's super salty. Kyrgios said of Nadal.

Kyrgios has a history of fines for poor behaviour on court and in March clashed with a fan at the Miami Open.

In 2015, having already been fined for an "insulting remark" to opponent Stan Wawrinka, Kyrgios was given a suspended 28-day ban and £16,200 fine for making lewd remarks about the Swiss player's girlfriend.

"Uncle Toni came out saying "he lacks education". I'm like, 'Bra (brother), I did 12 years at school, you idiot.

"I don't think he should be suspended", Federer said. "If you look at my day to day routine, at how much I train and put in it's zero compared to him." .

Things escalated quickly for Nick Kyrgios this week during the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome - and not in a good way.
