Window washers trapped on swinging lift from building

Emergency crews are rescuing two people trapped on a lift in downtown Oklahoma City, KFOR reports.

Just before 9 a.m. CST, firefighters confirmed they had rescued the two window washers. Video from the scene showed the scaffold banging against sides of the building that extend above the roof and breaking windows.

Firefighters said the basket "malfunctioned" before it began swinging, the newspaper reported.

They were evaluated by paramedics at the scene but declined medical treatment.

Terrifying footage captured the basket as it swung out of control while firefighters tried to rescue the workers from the Devon Tower in Oklahoma City.

According to Fulkerson, it is unclear how the lift became stuck, but an investigation is now underway.

Devon Energy officials said the two men were contractors.

"Devon Energy Center creates a focal point for the company and Oklahoma City by integrating civic-scaled spaces as a vital component of its overall development".

"We're also pleased with the quick actions of our Corporate Security and Incident Management teams".
