The revamped Apple TV app is available on iOS, tvOS and will be supported on 2019 Samsung Smart TVs.

The advantage of signing up through the Apple TV app is that you can share your subscription with your Family Sharing circle and download content for offline viewing.

The Apple TV Channels lets you subscribe to a range of channels like HBO and Showtime for a monthly fee. Currently, the premium cable network's HBO Go and HBO Now platforms do not have this feature.

Apple Inc on Monday rolled out a new television-watching app for its devices and some Internet-connected TVs, an effort to gain more revenue from reselling other companies' programming and, later this year, its own original shows. The TV app update adds the aforementioned Kids section at the top of the screen. Apple has been working with some of the biggest TV manufacturers to expand the footprint of its new TV app. Samsung boasts that it is the first TV manufacturer to offer the Apple TV app and AirPlay 2.

Apple previously announced that its TV app will launch on Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices but didn't mention those platforms with its announcement today.

As for the iOS 12.3 update, it addresses some of the bugs reported earlier apart from bringing in improvements in different apps like Apple News+, Apple Music, Apple TV Remote, AirPlay 2 and CarPlay. Apple is trying to catch up on streaming video to make up for a slowdown in iPhone sales. Some 100,000-plus movie and TV titles from iTunes have also been added to the app, including purchased titles called out in a new Library tab.

"Users can quickly find and watch their favorites with activity synced across devices, as well as explore expertly curated collections based on a secure and comprehensive understanding of users' viewing interests", the firm notes.
