Daniel Ricciardo has given his assessment of Formula 1's return to Zandvoort in 2020 for the Dutch Grand Prix. The sport has officially confirmed that the historic Zandvoort circuit will now be part of the calendar in 2020, reportedly likely to replace the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona. "Past year we only finished the calendar in August, but our goal now is another month or two".

"I raced there in F3 and I remember it keeps your eyes open", Ricciardo said.

"The track to drive on is pretty awesome".

"From a driving point of view it is fun. I've done a few laps and donuts in an F1 auto there too and the track was actually pretty challenging because you have a few banked corners, some places are very narrow and there's no run off".

"Just my initial feeling, I think with the speeds we go now, following another auto would be very hard".

What you see in this footage will look a little different come next year, as the race track will undergo renovations in order to meet the standards of the FIA, courtesy of the town council and other partners. So that is my reservation with it, I think it could be a very processional race. "I'm a bit torn because to drive on it would be fun but to race on it would be. with the width of the cars now, it is probably like a street circuit through some of the places, and then all high-speed through the middle. we will see but I think it would be tricky to make an exciting race". "I don't know if that's changed now or whether something will change", he said.
