That's not all. In a separate development, Google also said it's combining all its travel-related offerings - the mobile Google Trips app, Google hotels search and Google Flights - under one hood called Trips. People tend to plan trips and peruse hotel and restaurant sites when they have time, he said, but often have no way to save their search results or flight queries. Unlike travel agencies such as Expedia or Priceline, Google doesn't directly sell travel products such as hotel rooms or airline tickets. As we continue to evolve Google Trips, we're making this information more accessible at google.com/travel, and in Google Search and Google Maps. Until now, these features were only available if you downloaded the Google Trips app for Android and iOS.

Building on some of the features introduced a year ago, Google now makes it possible to edit your trip timeline directly from the travel hub, and the ability to manually add reservations is coming in a few weeks as well. Now, it's rolling out on the desktop, and there's even more functionality in the pipeline.

It is not enough that the Google mobile home page is no longer just a search box, they added a discover feed - like a news portal would have.

"If [you] make a reservation via flight search or hotel search and get an email in Gmail confirming that reservation, we'll automatically take that content", Holden told T+L.

However, you'll also be able to edit those trip timelines in the travel hub too.

It's not the only feature to be added.

It's also giving advertisers more space on Google Maps to promote a business's location when people are planning a route or en route to a location.

As you'd hope, there's the option to opt-out of all of this if you'd rather not have Google as your personal activity planner. For example, searching for pictures of a certain piece of furniture on Google Images may return Shopping results. If you don't have a trip booked (or aren't logged in), this tab will show recommendations for potential trips and popular destinations.
