Although Baldwin never actually used the words "retirement", the receiver did seem to indicate that he was done with football when he sent out a tweet that featured Jon Snow from "Game of Thrones".

In a series of tweets, Doug Baldwin wrote what he described as a letter to his younger self.

Baldwin, one of the Seahawks' best and most popular players, had surgery on his groin and a shoulder this offseason.

It's a good thing for the Seahawks that Baldwin didn't quit, because he ended up putting together one of the most underrated receiving careers in National Football League history. During his eight seasons - all with the Seahawks - Baldwin set the franchise record for touchdown catches in a season with 14 in 2015, and tied the team record for receptions in a season with 94 in 2016.

Baldwin finishes his career with 493 catches for 6,593 and 49 touchdowns - all of which rank top three in Seahawks franchise history.

The two-time Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl champ was seemingly underrated his entire career.

After offseason surgeries and the termination of his contract last week by the Seahawks because of a failed physical, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that while Baldwin wanted to continue playing, he might not be able to do so. That was a couple of days before he caught a pair of touchdown passes in a loss at San Francisco. "I'm 30 years old", Baldwin said at the time.
