Earlier in the day Giuliani said in a statement that he would push during an upcoming visit to Kiev investigations into presidential candidate Joe Biden's role in the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating businesses involving his son Hunter Biden.

Meanwhile, Giuliani has faced "withering attacks accusing him of seeking foreign assistance for President Trump's re-election campaign", the New York Times reports.

Sen. Chris Murphy, who called for a Senate query on Giuliani's proposed trip to Ukraine before it was canceled, tweeted, "I know we've become numb to the corruption of this Administration, but this story should be the total focus of the political class today".

Rudy Giuliani used Twitter on Friday to explain his rationale for travelling to Kyiv to push for two investigations.

Joe Biden is the early Democratic front-runner to challenge Trump in the 2020 election.

There is no evidence that Biden's conduct as vice president was improper while his son served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company. "The lack of character and values that are certainly inconsistent with Jewish values, I think, are only consolidating support in the Jewish community and I think the president needs to look inward when it comes to the rise of anti-Semitism in the country and his own actions and his own words and how that may fuel some of the rise in hate that we see".

TV star and comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy beat incumbent President Petro Poroshenko in a recent presidential election.

Biden's proposal is a far cry from President Trump's when it comes to healthcare and immigration. "And I'm going to give them reasons why they shouldn't stop it because that information will be very, very helpful to my client, and may turn out to be helpful to my government". Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said the continuing investigations into Trump are "politically motivated".

Leshchenko, however, said Ukraine's prosecutor general, Yuriy Lutsenko, had misled Giuliani.

In New Hampshire, O'Rourke said Giuliani's proposed trip to Ukraine was "so very troubling, very disappointing, and and yet not a total surprise, given this President's behavior and the pattern that he'd already set".

Rep. Adam Schiff insisted Sunday morning that the nation would not survive another four years of President Donald Trump.

Nonetheless, Gates said that there is a question of mental acuity at a certain age, for himself as much as anyone else. "Ethics don't matter. Patriotism doesn't matter'".

Speaking about the "Ukrainian collusion with Democrats" Giuliani specifically pointed to an alleged January 2016 meeting at the White House during which, Obama administration officials reportedly asked Ukrainian officials to revisit an investigation into payments to American citizens from Ukraine's Russia-backed Party of Regions.
