Camera catches moment bus driver saves student from reckless car driver

A Norwich school bus driver is being hailed a hero for her quick reaction that saved a student's life from an illegally passing auto.

The New York State Legislature has passed a bill to put cameras on school bus stop sign arms. Then, you see Call grab the back of the student's jacket to pull him back as a vehicle zoomed past the bus.

The Norwich City School District posted the video to its Facebook page to pay tribute to Call's reactions as well as warn other students to be more careful. Not only did the auto pass on the wrong side of the bus, but it narrowly ran down the male student who was exiting the bus.

In New York, officers have to personally see someone pass a bus to be permitted to issue a ticket, WSYR reported. One video captured on a Norwich School District proves why it's important they did.

Ms Call managed to avert an accident with her "good grab", and the student continued on his way out unfazed. "All of our drivers undergo continuous training so they're prepared to handle situations like this".

In the video, you can see the bus stop and the student attempt to get off.
