Report Kings coach Luke Walton sued for sexual assault

Kelli Tennant, a reporter who used to work for Lakers rightsholder Spectrum Sportsnet LA, is reportedly alleging that Walton assaulted her after calling her into his Santa Monica hotel room to discuss a book she was writing in May 2017. She then said that Walton asked her to go up to his room, and she obliged.

The Times reported that the lawsuit alleges that Walton pinned Tennant to a bed in his hotel room and "began forcing kisses on her neck, face and chest". She said that Walton would often greet her with an aggressive hug or kiss despite her telling him the advances were unwanted.

She says he eventually relented but grabbed her again when she was trying to leave, and acted inappropriately in future interactions they had in her time as a reporter.

In the lawsuit, Walton allegedly assaulted Tennant when he was still a Golden State Warriors assistant coach, but no date was given.

Tennant claims she was unable to get away at first as Walton went on to grope her and rub his erection on her.

Two days earlier, he stepped down as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, a position he had held since 2016. In 2014, she released a book titled "The Transition: Every Athlete's Guide to Life After Sports". He went on to play in 10 National Basketball Association seasons, most of which was spent with the Lakers.

Last week, it was announced that Walton had come to an agreement to become the next head coach of the Sacramento Kings.
