The Egypt and Liverpool winger was included in Time magazine's Most Influential People in 2019, unveiled on Wednesday.

Salah, who is often called Egyptian Messi, plays as a forward in Liverpool F.C.

The Egyptian icon has been listed by TIME among the world's 100 most influential people. Other American sports stars that made to the list are National Basketball Association star LeBron James; new Masters champion Tiger Woods; and footballer Alex Morgan.

"I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture", Salah said, insisting this change is not something "optional".

He said, his thoughts about gender relations have changed after looking at the treatment of women "in my culture and in the Middle East".

He added: "I support the woman more than I did before, because I feel like she deserves more than what they give her now at the moment".

Salah also referred to several challenges he faced at the beginning of his success journey when he first came from Egypt to Switzerland, saying, "In the beginning, I was suffering a lot".

The Professional Footballers' Association on Saturday has announced the nominees for the Player of the Year award and yet there was no room for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah leaving Reds fans angry.

He told Time he has learned to cope with the "little bit of pressure" that comes with his elevated profile, while expressing pride at being regarded as a role model. However, he has learned to adjust with it. We obviously have a really good football team with good players, and mix it up with a world class attitude and it makes you a hard team to play. Liverpool had much of the ball to wreak havoc on the defence of the home team but they have been poor in the attack in the opening 40 minutes of the game.
