Paris: Paris Saint-Germain missed the chance to seal their sixth Ligue 1 title in seven years for the second week running on Sunday after a 5-1 hammering at Lille, their biggest league defeat in 10 years.

On a night when nothing seemed to go to plan for his side, PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel saw Thomas Meunier put through his own net to give Lille the lead before Bernat pulled the visitors level.

However, the Spanish full-back was shown a straight red card shortly before the break when he brought down Pepe as the striker was rushing towards goal.

Christophe Galtier's men promptly sprang to life in the second half, profiting from their numerical advantage with goals from Nicolas Pepe, Jonathan Bamba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jose Fonte.

PSG's eighth Ligue 1 title remains a matter of time but they have now passed up chances to confirm it on consecutive Sundays after last week's 2-2 draw with Strasbourg.

Debuchy then completed the win with a deflected close-range strike in the final minute to put Jean-Louis Gasset's side back ahead of Marseille, who started the day fourth and in the Europa League spot after surviving late VAR penalty drama on Saturday to scrape to a 2-1 win over Nimes.

"We're going to be champions but we can not lose like this", the 20-year-old Mbappe added.

"Today we played like amateurs". "Shipping three, four or five goals is not normal".

Tuchel only had six substitutes on his bench for the 5-1 defeat. "To win here, we would have needed more quality".

But Tuchel took umbrage to the comments after the match and has since played down suggestions of any psychological shortcomings from his squad, instead commenting that he was forced to utilise "sick players who should not have played".

"I don't even know how many players I can take to Nantes".

"We are missing too many players, and nobody is speaking about it".

"Nobody said anything before because we were winning".

"Yes, I will be telling the president as this situation is not good".

St Etienne have 53 points, three behind third-placed Olympique Lyonnais, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.
