Ander Herrera remains keen to sign a contract extension at Manchester United despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain, sources have told ESPN FC.

As things stand, Herrera is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, with his current contract at Old Trafford set to expire this summer.

Paris St-Germain are said to be monitoring Herrera's situation and, conscious he would be available on a free transfer if no agreement is reached with United, view him as a relatively low-priced midfield option.

The former Athletic Bilbao star has impressed since caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in December.

Herrera's leadership was recently on full display when he called out Alexis Sanchez after their Champions League victory against PSG: "World-class player Alexis and the way he fought".

As it stands, there has not been a breakthrough in discussions over a fresh contract and according to The Sun, Herrera has been "in talks" with PSG over a move to the French capital.

The 29-year-old Spain global is out of contract on June 30 and has been in talks with the Premier League giants since last summer, but no deal has yet been reached.

Herrera has scored 19 goals in 177 appearances for United since joining the club in 2016.
